Chad will be missed

I was a grad student with Chad at UTA, and he was one of the few people I could always count on for a cheery greeting and some serious science geekiness (especially if he had baby anoles in the lab!). He was a rare kind of guy that could couple his abundant enthusiasm with a relaxed attitude, something I always envied that about him. Chad made such a huge impression on everyone who knew him, and I know he will be missed dearly.

SMILE in the sky

Our deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to all the family. Dan, I never had the opportunity to meet Chad but I am sure he was like the bright ray of sunlight that begins every new day to all his family and friends. Remember him that way always my friend and you will see his smile at every sunrise.

My dearest friend…

Chad,
I’m going to miss you so much. You were such a special friend to me. You had so many wonderful qualities; you were such a special soul. I know you’re gone now, but I have so many great memories of you. Thank you for giving me the privilege of being your friend. You never let me down. I know I’m not going to meet many more people like you; friends of your caliber are few and far between. Thank you for all of the advice. Thank you for always cheering me up. Thank you for putting up with me. Thank you for tutoring me. My thesis might only be possible because of the direction you gave me. 🙂 When I have questions, can I still ask you? I hope you’ll respond. Chad you have many people that are going to miss you. It doesn’t seem right that you left so early. I hope that wherever you are, you’re okay. I hope you’re happy. I will always remember you and what a great friend you were. I really hope that one day you and I will meet again.

Happy moments

Dear Chad,

Your joy for life, curiosity and sharp intellect were very obvious from the very first interactions with you. Working together with you was a privilege and a joy. Although work was important, enjoying life was very important as well. What could be better than combine leisure and work at the same time? Remember our “field trip” to collect lizards in Florida? In our first hours there, being hungry, we went to the shopping mall to grab something to eat. We spotted some lizards on the wall of the mall and this is when are collection started. Arriving in the hotel, we went to the swimming pool to cool down, and in the way there we collected some additional lizards in the shrubs nearby. Then, being in the natural reserve where we actually planned to collect lizards, it took us 4 hours to spot the first lizard. Probably the fact that we were doing our “field trip” looking for lizards from our air-conditioned car did not help us to be faster. Anyway, after having figure out how to find them, the rest was easy. So, we could celebrate our success of our field trip by going to a fancy restaurant and eating one of the best tiramisus of our lives. Your great sense of humor, happiness and positive attitude towards life will be hugely missed.

Andre

Warm prayers

Chad was a great guy with great humor and enthusiasm. His knowledge was tremendous, and the funny thing he once declared was his disbelief in global warming. Charming guy. His passion for lizards is like no one else’s. I am truly sad to hear this news, but he is in a better place now.
